Our client, a luxury ecotourism and conservation brand, is seeking a highly skilled Group Accountant to join their team.
They require a certain type of Finance team member, adept both at technical aspects of accounting, budgeting and people management, along with a wider view of business leadership that is aligned with their values.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive support to the senior-tier finance team at Head Office.
Ensure efficient financial analysis, reporting, planning and control of all entities in the Company Group
Support the Group General Manager (Finance) in all activities to achieve timeous financial reporting that is accurate and meaningful to all stakeholders (Drafting AFS, audit liaison, tax filings, shareholder communication).
Assist the Financial Director and the Group CFO by preparing financial feasibility models for any new business opportunities
Act as a liaison between the company and their finance office of the Managed Properties and their reporting stakeholders
Monitor compliance with all tax laws and regulatory requirements to minimize any exposure to interest and tax penalties
Supervise the ongoing training and development of all Admin & Finance staff
Be responsible for compliance and financial function of NGOs within the company group.
Assistance with the preparation for the annual audit of all companies within the company group.
Review of the balance sheet reconciliations, including all monthly supplier account reconciliations - interrogation and resolution of irregular transactions if required
Review, amendment, implementation of general systems and internal control procedures throughout the Group
Compilation, submission and reconciliation of government grant applications /claims /statistical surveys
Assistance with the annual compilation of operating/capex budgets for all entities within the company group
Requirements:
Qualified accountant – CA (SA) or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years post-qualifying practical experience in commerce
Drafting experience in Caseware, including experience in consolidations.
Above-average level of computer literacy with experience on accounting software & MS-Office applications
Be accurate with strong attention to detail
Above-average communication skills (written & verbal)
Be organized and systematic, yet flexible
Passion for the industry – enthusiasm for what needs to be done
Self-starter (initiative to look for ways to improve the delivery of financial information to the stakeholders)
Ability to deal with pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines
Willingness / ability to travel
No criminal record or tainted financial status or history
Willingness to work in-office.
