The purpose of the role will be to manage the daily finance operations of several legal entities within a group structure and to provide strategic input into the company's strategic and operational financial plans. The incumbent will be the strategic financial advisor to the Company and be overall accountable for financial management, including monitoring and evaluation of all financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This is a remote position.


Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Strategy:

  • Responsible for the budgeting and forecasting processes in consultation with the leadership team.

  • Responsible for the preparation of financial statements to trial balance.

  • Pro-active analysis and interpretation of data and reports to highlight relevant trends and areas for improvement, as well as informing strategic decision making.

2. Financial Reporting (data analytics and monitoring):

  • Preparation of financial reports for the purpose of monitoring business KPIs and business sustainability, as well as identifying gaps and implementing corrective action.

  • Monthly consolidated financial reports.

  • Ad hoc specialised reports with accurate financial information and analysis, stakeholder and internal financial reporting, cost modelling, budgeting and forecasting to identify gaps and risk impact for mitigation.

3. Governance, risk and compliance:

  • Develop and implement relevant financial policies, processes and control measures, including monitoring and reporting compliance according to relevant financial legislation and regulations.

  • Awareness creation of relevant financial legislative and policy changes through appropriate communication mechanisms, for the implementation of financial policies and audit requirements.

  • Review and improve financial business processes and financial internal controls for the company to enable and ensure compliance to policies, procedures and relevant legislation within the company's financial framework.

  • Determine appropriate financial instruments to mitigate risks and maximize cashflow.

4. Contracting and contract management:

  • Ensuring that relevant contractual financial terms and conditions are met, assets are accounted for and all transactions are reconciled to original agreements.

  • Assess financial risks, payment terms and conditions.

  • Oversee that customer contracts are accurately captured and administered in the financial system, through review of contracts.

  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, customers and suppliers to ensure timeous and accurate collection of funds.

5. Finance Service Delivery:

  • Assess budget availability.

  • Oversee the revision of the asset register, including asset classification and useful life of assets to ensure adherence to accounting policies/ principles.

  • Expert advice and support of management at month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes, as well as reviewing data & reconciliations to ensure accurate & complete financial information.

6. Oversight of audits:

  • Oversee the preparation and provision of audit packs.

  • Ensure implementation of any corrective action identified.

7. Daily financial operations:

  • Ensure daily reconciliation of bank statements to financial systems.

  • Load payments on relevant banking applications.

  • Capture receipts.

  • FX payments and receipts.

  • Procurement from vendors and vendor settlement.

  • Invoicing to clients.

8. Multiple Legal Entities:

  • All functions above will be performed across different legal entities locally and abroad.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (SA) or equivalent

  • Completed Articles

  • 2-5 years‘ experience in a financial management position or similar

  • Advanced analytical & problem-solving skills

  • Advanced numerical skills

  • Informed decision making

  • Attention to detail & accuracy

  • Organisational skills

  • Advanced Microsoft suite, especially excel

  • Ability to assess financial risk, recommend and implement appropriate control systems

  • Analysis, interpretation and presentation of financial data

  • Relationship management

  • Excellent communications skills – written & verbal

  • Ability to work within a team

  • Good working knowledge of financial systems, Zoho Books experience is preferential
